Our club social secretary for 2008 is Leah Scowcroft. Drop her an email if you have any ideas or want to organise a night out or a trip somewhere.

You can usually meet many of the shop and club members at the Withy Trees on Saturday afternoons from around 4.30pm.

There is now a club meeting on Monday nights in The Anchor at Hutton as well. See the dates below!

There will also be a few instructors, instructees and maybe a few other club members at the Anchor Pub in Hutton on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from around 9.30pm.

Monthly meetings at the Anchor at Hutton will be on the first Monday of each month. Get along to have a chat with other members of the club and discuss diving, equipment, bitch about something or maybe even organise dive trips.

The meetings will be very informal - sounds a bit like the old Wednesday nights after diving at the pool - and will get going about 8.00. Pop along and have a chat!

Howdy Dudes / Dudettes

It’s nearly Christmas woooooooo!!!!!! Only 6 months. (How exciting). So our FINS Christmas due is booked for Saturday 20th December at Barton Grange in the Barton Suite. The bar opens from 7pm with dinner served between 7:30pm – 8:00pm; last orders are 12:30am with the party finishing at 1:00am. The total price is £47.50 now I no this is quite expensive compared to the £30 one’s we usually go to but I can guarantee you it will be a night to remember, much better than all the others. The Barton Suite Christmas parties are renowned for fantastic food, which you get to choose on the night instead of ordering beforehand; it’s got lively entertainment Rob Falcon style and a big party atmosphere. And look at the menu…

First it’s…
Smoked Salmon Ribbons (Pickled asparagus and rocket brushetta, chive crème fraiche)
Homemade chicken liver pate (Aged port and thyme, roast onion and pear chutney)
Vine ripened Tomato and mozzarella salad (Pommery and herb dressing)

Then it’s…
Cream of roast pepper and butternut squash soup,
Mandarin sorbet, Cointreau syrup.

And then…
Medallions of Beef Fillet (Finished with shallots, Madeira, cream and Stilton)
Roast Turkey (Traditional seasoning, chipolata sausage and rich gravy)
Delice of poached Salmon (Shellfish sauce)
Bean Cassoulet (Cous cous and roast vegetables)

All served with a selection of market fresh vegetables

Now for the best bit…
Christmas Plum Pudding (Rum sauce)
Steamed Ginger Pudding (Honeycomb ice cream)
Seasonal fruits and berries (Champagne and vanilla syrup, mascarpone cream)
Selection of local cheeses (Served with water biscuits, celery and grapes)

And once we have all put on about a stone we have Coffee and Mints. Isn’t that the best Christmas menu you have ever read?

Barton Grange hotel have a special low room rate so why not stay the night as well.

So dress up, let your hair down and dance the night away.

A £30 deposit is needed NOW, and when you bring it into the shop we will

even make you a brew as well how’s that for service!!!
