Welcome to Fins Sub Aqua Club's website. The site brings together information for the club and it's members.
If you want to ask a question
or join in a conversation or debate then go to the forum and see what
everyone is talking about. Loads
of updates on the Club Trips Page. A rough guide below but go to the
Club Trips page for more information.
Camp Freddie
3:
With a Vengeance Camping is at Blackthorn Farm near
Trearddur Bay and they have plenty of space for tents. The idea is to
book your camping site direct with Blackthorn Farm on 01407 765262 as
soon as possible and they will take half of the camping fees using
credit card over the phone. Pitches are £16
per night per tent. More info on the Club Trips Page Bridlington 28th and
29th September 2008. To
book your place, have your name put in the diary at the shop with the
£80 boat charge, which is non-refundable.

Annual General Meeting
Starting at 19:30, at The Anchor, Hutton, with food provided. Phone or
call into the shop (or both) to have your name put in the diary so we
know how many to cater for. Everyone is welcome the only prerequisite
being that your membership has been renewed for 2008, so come and have
your say about how the club develops in 2008.
All of the existing committee are prepared to
stand for another year if anyone else wants to have a go at any of the
committee positions then let us know by e-mailing
club@fins.org.uk
and you will be added to the vote on the night.
The annual awards will be up for grabs and awarded based on the votes of
club members in advance of the AGM. The awards are:
Club Diver of the Year
, awarded to the person voted to have contributed most to the club over
the previous year.
Young Diver of the Year
, for anyone under 16 who has been actively involved in club diving
activities.
Most Improved Diver,
for someone who’s diving has improved considerably.
Numpty Diver,
always a close contest this. Do you know someone who has entered the
water without weights, fins, mask or air turned on (or all of these at
once), left kit at home, basically done something daft? We need to name
and shame and present the award, believe me this one will be a close
contest this year.
Vote for the above by e-mailing your nomination to
club@fins.org.uk
Happy New Year!
There will be a local
dive on the 12th and 13th January. This time of year it will probably be
at Capernwray but keep an eye out for emails and information nearer the
time. Be aware that Capernwray has gone up to £12 per day or £100 for a
ten visit ticket book.
On Monday the 4th
February Geof and Fiona will be hosting a Photographic Show at The
Anchor at Hutton starting at 8pm. Give the shop a ring or drop in to
tell them if you are interested to get an idea for numbers. Have a look
at some of their photos in the gallery
here and
here to see what you can look
forward to!
The Christmas do is
now at Preston North End Function Room on the 15th December (2007).
Cost is £33.50 for dinner
and entertainment. Monies are needed by end of September (tomorrow),
however if you want to go let Bernie know (01772 788032) and I'm sure
she will sort something out.
Club meeting 1st
October at The Anchor from around 8.00pm
There are some
gallery updates in the
Anglesey section and a big update with 2007 Sharm el Sheikh trip
pictures in the Sharm section.
Menai 9th
September
There are some
gallery updates from Mike Whittaker in the
Hard Hat dive area and a
new Thirlmere section. There
are also some new photos from Karen Wellings from the April
Lochaline trip here.
The Smiths are having a barbeque on
September 1st,
everyone is invited, adults children, friends and relations, all that is
asked is that, if you are going, leave numbers in the shop diary so
Simon knows how many to cater for (more of the best cake and biscuits in
Lancashire than anyone can eat is guaranteed!). PROJECT AWARE INTERNATIONAL
CLEANUP DAY 15th September Get
along to the Anchor at Hutton on Monday the 6th August to have a chat
about dive trips.
Camp Freddy 21st and 22nd July
The idea is to get to
the site on Friday, dive local shore dives on the Saturday and then dive
on Anglesey on the Sunday before setting off home. If anyone is
interested then please leave £10 at the shop along with details of
numbers of adults and children and the size of your camping gear/motorhome/caravan.
If you are interested
or already have your name down get along to the Anchor at Hutton on the
2nd July to get more information on the trip.
Monthly meetings at the
Anchor at Hutton will be on the first Monday of each month.
Get along to have a chat with other members of the club and discuss
diving, equipment, bitch about something or maybe even organise dive
trips.
The meetings will be
very informal - sounds a bit like the old Wednesday nights after diving
at the pool - and will get going about 8.00. Pop along and have a chat!
A new section has been
added to the gallery with some pictures from the recent York chamber and
Standard Dress dives.
Have a look here.
I'll add some
information about the AGM very soon.
Added some more information
about the Menai trips to the club trips page
here and it has it's own page here.
Ronnie is organising
two Anglesey/Menai trips this on 17th June and 9th September.
Diving will be around £45 for the day. See the Anglesey page
here.
Here's a few pictures from the
Christmas do. If you have any more send them to
club@fins.org.uk and I'll put them
in the gallery.
